Denise K. GhattasWhy am I remembering the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in my will?

Since childhood, the performing and visual arts have been a significant part of my life. Although I do not live in Palm Beach, I have long understood the significance of the Kravis Center to this community and to my aunt, Helen K. Persson – both represent the essence of taking a dream from hope to reality. I have met a number of people across the United States who have been impacted by the Kravis Center – as volunteers, audience members, or Palm Beach visitors who just happened to pass by this spectacular venue.

Aunt Helen's words, "follow your passion" influence every decision I make, both professionally and personally. Although I was being groomed for the opera, my passion led me into musical theater. I was a theater major in college, but I had a greater calling: education. I became an educator to make a difference in students' lives, whether they were adolescents, teenagers, or adults. My passion for teaching and for developing strong leaders and successful, lifelong learners has not diminished.

I am so very grateful to have been a recipient of my Aunt Helen's loving support and generosity for over fifty years. My dear, sweet Aunt Helen guided me with her wisdom and inspired me through her faith in God, her commitment to serving others, and her passion for life. Palm Beach is where so many of us came together from so many different traditions and connections to celebrate and honor the beauty of her kind and generous heart. I have included the Kravis Center in my estate plan to honor my Aunt Helen's memory and her legacy, and to ensure the performing arts will continue to flourish in Palm Beach County.
